V.O Curations is pleased to announce a poetry evening accompanying Sola Olulode’s show ‘Where the Ocean Meets the Beach’ featuring poet Travis Alabanza and more to be confirmed.
‘Where the Ocean Meets the Beach’ is taken from Alabanza’s poem, The Sea. Dealing with the fluidity of gender and identification, Alabanza describes the fleeting and floating feeling of what their gender “feels like”. In conjunction with Sola Olulode’s new series, which deals with the representation of queer romantic relationships and their complexities, The Sea offers a mellifluous background over which Olulode’s figures placidly live their love.
The poetry evening will take place at V.O Curations 12th Floor on 19th March, from 6:30 until 8:30 pm.
Travis Alabanza is a performance artist, theatre maker, poet and writer based in London. The youngest recipient of the artist in residence at the Tate workshop programme, Alabanza has also performed at the V&A, Tate, ICA and Barbican. In 2018 Alabanza debuted Burgerz, a highly successful show that toured the UK and was extended in 2019 for a second leg of the tour.
