Jordan Derrien (b. 1994, Caen) develops a multidisciplinary practice which involves the exploration of a closed and frontal pictorial space. At the intersection between object and painting, he is interested in the concepts of obstruction and concealment through processes of series and repetition, often borrowing from a domestic language.

Derrien studied Industrial Design at École Cantonale d’Art de Lausanne (2013), holds a BA from École Supérieure des Arts & Médias de Caen/Cherbourg (2016) and an MA from École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-arts de Lyon (2018).

Solo exhibitions include ‘RAF-IDCC-RHB-RPM’, Colette Mariana, Barcelona (2024); ‘Wonderfulness/dogma/sash/both’, Les Bains-Douches, Alençon (2023); ‘Bushels of Goodness and Warmth’, V.O Curations, London (2022). His work has featured in group exhibitions including ‘Cassoni. Peintures-Boîtes’, Galerie Anne Barrault, Paris (2022), ‘Nous Irons Tous au Paradis’, FRAC Normandie Caen (2021); ‘Hetton Lawn’, Haus Wien, Vienna (2021); CBARET: What Not Speak Easy’, LAXART, Los Angeles (2019).

Derrien is author of the book, ‘Like The Gold at The End of The Rainbow’, published by Three Dice Books (2023).
