In this workshop, writer and curator Jared Davis will invite participants to reflect on how the social web has shaped music subcultures and artistic production. He will connect recent thinking around digital labour and music distribution with his experiences as associate editor of art and music platform AQNB. These topics will be examined with reference to artists that are engaging with self-reflexiveness around digital platforms, as well as some of the ways in which the changing landscape of social platforms has shaped and affected AQNB editorially.

Jared Davis is a writer and curator based in London. He is Associate Editor of AQNB and co-host of the editorial platform’s Artist Statement podcast. Events curated by Jared include Paranormal Storytime (2020) featuring Elvia Wilk, Swan Meat, Tianzhuo Chen and Wang Newone; Hyperobjectivity (2020) featuring Ewa Awe for 3hd Festival; along with past projects presented in partnership with Färgfabriken, Stockholm, the Iziko South African National Gallery, Cape Town, and the Melbourne International Arts Festival.

This interview is a part of the public programme for The Green Room, a two-person exhibition with artworks by Anna Engelhardt and Bahar Noorizadeh curated by Reem Shadid running until 11 November.
